TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
Colin Hedges is a Prison Officer who has let life over take him and given in to hard drugs.
WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING IN BAD GIRLS?
The best thing about being in Bad Girls is being a Bad Boy in a prison full of girls!
WAS IT HARD TO COME INTO AN ESTABLISHED SERIES?
The first week Jack Ellis and I were filming in the red light district in Amsterdam – so it was a fun introduction to Bad Girls.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?
Colin has few redeeming features, but it’s a real challenge to play someone as lost as he is in the shark-soup that is Larkhall.
ARE YOU LIKE YOUR CHARACTER? DO YOU SHARE ANY PERSONALITY TRAITS?
We’ve got the same face. That’s it! The only thing I’m addicted to is cigarettes and I’m trying to give those up.
WHAT SCENES HAVE YOU MOST ENJOYED OR HATED FILMING SO FAR?
I found the scenes abusing Shell Dockley very uncomfortable, especially as she was 6 months pregnant at the time. I get to snog Yvonne and get head-butted by Jim Fenner!
WAS IT HARD TO FILM THE SCENES WHERE YOUR CHARACTER WAS TAKING DRUGS?
It was uncomfortable squashed up in the toilet cubicles with a retractable needle stuck in your ankle. Especially with a camera man, sound man and lighting man with a bit of polystyrene bouncing light onto your foot.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?
I live with Katy Carmichael (Lucy in Coronation Street). It’s spring so I’m getting out on my roof in Soho and playing my guitar a lot. We are also renovating a cottage in Padstow, Cornwall – which is where I’m from. I’m also working on a project with a theatre company in Cornwall and we’re performing in a castle this summer, which couldn’t be more different than Larkhall Prison.
HOW WOULD YOU GET ON WITH YOUR CHARACTER IF YOU MET HIM IN REAL LIFE?
If I met Colin in real life there probably wouldn’t be that much communication because Colin is a very guarded person who doesn’t give much away. If Colin got on top of his addictions he’d be a completely different person so who knows.
