New inmate Renee Williams is making enemies fast and furiously. Shaz and Denny are petrified of her, and Crystal isn’t back from the block for five minutes before Renee threatens her with the razor. Renee’s real animosity is saved for Yvonne though and later, she follows her into the toilets and takes her chance to attack her with the razor blade. Luckily, Nikki manages to pull her off before she can do any real damage. At lunch, Yvonne notices that Renee is very picky about her food and flatly refuses to eat anything containing nuts. That afternoon, Yvonne goes to the library and studies a medical encyclopaedia with interest.

Helen has good news for Nikki—new evidence has come to light that will benefit her appeal. But tension mounts between them, due to Nikki’s jealousy over friendships that Helen is forming with colleagues on the outside. However, Nikki is not the only person to be jealous of Helen’s planned evening out with Dominic—he has a secret admirer…Di.

Shaz and Denny continue their mischief-making, and Hollamby becomes the main target for their next stunt. After lock-up, Shaz tricks Hollamby into locking herself into the four-bed dorm and then, into handing over her keys. But this prank turns into a major breach in security when Renee dies in suspicious circumstances. The police have a plethora of suspects to interview and a burning question of how she was killed. Meanwhile, Karen docks Hollamby a month’s wages and reduces her rank from Senior to Basic grade to punish her stupidity.

After the discovery of rat poison in the servery, the police become convinced that Renee was poisoned and, thanks to her history, Shaz becomes their prime suspect. Shaz is quite happy to confess to the murder—she’s already in for life, what difference will one more victim make? But everything changes when the results of Renee’s post-mortem comes back and it transpires that she died of anaphylactic shock—an allergic reaction to nuts. With no proof that anyone knew about Renee’s allergy, her death is ruled accidental. But if this is the case, why does Yvonne look so happy as she eats peanuts in her cell?

Fenner’s morale is deteriorating and he is making a habit of reporting for work hungover and unshaven. When Karen calls round to his house to see him; she discovers that his wife and kids are gone. But will pity turn to something more, as feelings from the past come to the fore?

Memorable Moments

Renee – “What’s in that?”
Shell – “It’s shepherd’s pie.”
Renee – “I asked what was in it.”
Shell – “Potatoes and dead cow! Alright?”

Shell – “Don’t you want to know what’s in ‘em? You usually do! (Looks down at label) Reconstituted skimmed milk, sugar, chocolate flavouring, cream, glucose, lots of Es… (Shouts to other inmates) ‘ere girls! Make sure you drink plenty of water!”

Karen – “I’ve set the police up in the probation office. Lunch and dinner will be served in-cell and there will be no association.”
Hollamby – “Oh good! Can we have a murder everyday please?”

Crystal – “She didn’t deserve to live; she stole my hair-oil.”

Shaz – “So why you picking on me?”
PC – “You are a convicted poisoner.”
Shaz – “So? That was oysters…you don’t get oysters in prison.”
