Mark is trying desperately to persuade Gina to forgive him for having sex with Di, but even a bouquet of flowers doesn’t seem to have an effect. Gina’s aggressive front hides just how heartbroken she is over Mark’s infidelity. The fact that he shagged Di is bad enough, but now she’s stuck with the prospect of becoming a single-mother and beginning to consider an abortion. Josh meanwhile is experiencing a definite sense of deja-vu—Di nearly mucked up his relationship with Crystal, he isn’t about to let her do the same to Gina and Mark. Gina listens to his words of advice and decides to forgive Mark—there’s no way she’s going to let a sad old cow like Di Barker ruin her life.
Helen is determined to prove that Fenner is unfit to women with female inmates, and vows to prove it. Although Karen doesn’t take kindly to Helen’s words of warning about Fenner’s behaviour, Thomas is incredibly supportive of her crusade, especially when he hears about the sexual assault. Helen’s big break comes in the form of Yvonne. She’s lost count of the number of times she’s seen Fenner going into Virginia’s cell and, with the help of Lauren, has worked out exactly what the two of them are up to. Yvonne passes this information on to Helen—if they work together, they can get rid of the bastard for good. Helen agrees and persuades Thomas to help her stake out the brothels—surely it will only be a matter of time before they catch Fenner at it.
Shaz has asked for a transfer to the lifers’ unit to escape the constant bullying she is still suffering at the hands of Al. Cut off from her mates, and still unable to avoid the Peckham Boot Gang, the normally happy-go-lucky teenager becomes dangerously depressed and smashes up her cell in frustration. Helen is concerned by this behaviour and discusses it with Thomas. He has the perfect, if somewhat unorthodox, idea for a way of boosting Shaz’s self-esteem and introduces her to kick-boxing inmate, Dionne.
Di realises that her attempts to split Gina and Mark up have failed when the couple announce their engagement and happily inform their colleagues of Gina’s pregnancy. Di is later discovered sobbing by Barbara who is shocked when Di reveals that she was having an affair with Mark and that Gina has faked a pregnancy to split them up. It doesn’t take the Julies long to extract this piece of juicy gossip from Barbara and they can’t resist having a go at Gina. Predictably, Gina hits the roof and storms off to confront Di. Mark pulls Gina off before she can do any real damage, but in the ensuing struggle, she falls heavily on her stomach. Di looks on in horror as Gina is carried away to a waiting ambulance.
Thomas and Helen enjoy an evening at the races…greyhound racing that is. Does this mean that the final curtain has dropped on Helen’s relationship with Nikki? It would seem so…especially when Helen and Thomas begin to kiss.
