REMIND US WHAT HAPPENED TO NATALIE AT THE END OF LAST SERIES:
By the end of last series Natalie had lost her top-dog status to Pat Kerrigan and was very very bitter about it. She is determined to claw her way back to the top and will do anything she can to get there. To her, status means everything.
WILL THERE STILL BE A BATTLE OF THE BITCHES BETWEEN PAT AND NATALIE THIS SERIES?
Nat will try her hardest to get respect form the other girls, even if she gets it in an underhand way. And in true Natalie style, she will never make Pat’s life easy.
NATALIE SEEMS TO HAVE A VERY STRONG HOLD OVER THE OTHER INMATES. WHAT ANTICS DOES SHE GET UP TO THIS SERIES?
This series Natalie becomes the prison’s top drug dealer and tries to get certain girls hooked by giving them freebies until they become dependent. That’s how she manages to keep them under her thumb and uses them to do her dirty work.
DO YOU THINK THE OTHER INMATES ARE STILL SCARED OF NATALIE?
I think certain inmates are still scared of Natalie – but only because she is so unpredictable. She can be on your side one minute and flushing your head in the toilet the next. So the inmates are very wary of her.
WHY DO YOU THINK NATALIE IS THE WAY SHE IS?
I think Natalie has always had to look after herself, even from when she was a child. Now as an adult she still only looks out for herself and will use and abuse anyone as long as she is fine and get’s what she needs and wants.
DOES NATALIE GET ON WITH ANY OF THE OTHER INMATES?
Natalie only gets on with the other inmates when she wants something from them!
WHAT BIG STORIES ARE LINED UP FOR NATALIE?
The animosity between Pat and Nat builds and builds over the episodes until there is another huge fight between them where Pat tries to teach Natalie a lesson, once and for all. But Natalie is crafty so Pat has her work cut out for her.
DO YOU SYMPATHISE WITH YOUR CHARACTER OR HAVE RESPECT FOR THE WAY THAT THEY OPERATE?
I don’t have any respect for Natalie. She is selfish, manipulative and just pure evil. Which is fun to play but with no redeeming features I can honestly say I don’t have any respect for her.
DO YOU SHARE SIMILAR PERSONALITY TRAITS WITH YOUR CHARACTER?
The only similarities we share are how we look and sound – thank god!
IF THERE WAS ONE THING THAT YOU COULD CHANGE ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
From an acting point of view, I wouldn’t change a thing. She is fabulous to play and I have lots of fun with her.
DO YOU THINK THAT TIME IN LARKHALL PRISON WILL CHANGE YOUR CHARACTER IN ANY WAY? I
Prison isn’t doing anything good for Natalie. In her boredom she just gets worse. She doesn’t want to rehabilitate as she really thinks she has done nothing wrong. So as much as she shouldn’t be released, prison won’t make her a better person.
IF YOUR CHARACTER WAS RELEASED FROM LARKHALL, DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD REOFFEND?
Natalie would definitely re-offend if she was released. In her mind, prostituting immigrant girls wasn’t wrong and she thinks the responsibility lies with them. She is far too arrogant to learn the error of her ways.
ARE THERE ANY DREAM STORYLINES THAT YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR CHARACTER TO HAVE?
Ideally, I’d like Natalie to escape and carry on her evil ways in a sunny environment so we can shoot somewhere nice instead of in a prison set!
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE STORYLINE OF THIS SERIES SO FAR, INVOLVING YOUR CHARACTER?
The Pat and Natalie fight in episode 6 is really a classic in the making – don’t miss it!
IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO CHANGE THE CURRENT PUNISHMENT SYSTEM, WOULD YOU?
I think certain things in the prison system need to be looked at, like the time served for a crime. In certain cases you would get longer for robbing a bank then you would the rape or attempted murder of a child.
PROTESTORS ARE OFTEN ARRESTED OVER AN ISSUE THAT THEY FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT. IS THERE ANY ISSUE THAT YOU FEEL STRONGLY ENOUGH ABOUT THAT YOU WOULD PROTEST AGAINST AT THE RISK BEING ARRESTED?
What is currently annoying the hell out of me is the way that people are dying everyday, while the government are telling us that certain drugs which will prolong and cure life are too expensive, like Herceptin. There is no price on life.
ARE YOU INVOLVED WITH ANY CHARITIES?
I actively try to do as much for charity as I can. I support a few, from fighting poverty (Oxfam) to the Princes Trust. But when I finish filming I will have more time on my hands and hope to do more.
BAD GIRLS THE MUSICAL IS CURRENTLY PLAYING IN LEEDS. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT MOVING FROM THE SMALL SCREEN TO THE STAGE?
I’ve seen the musical and think it is great and really good fun. It’s an experience you shouldn’t miss!
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?
What free time! At the moment I just try and catch up sleep.
IF YOU WERE IN PRISON FOR REAL, HOW WOULD YOU MAKE THE MOST OF TIME?
If I were banged up in prison I would work hard at getting my A-Levels. I left college in the middle of doing mine to start playing Gina Patrick in Hollyoaks which was such good fun. I wouldn’t have changed a thing but I don’t like unfinished business so would like to get them finished.
WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND BROUGHT UP?
Essex.
WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW?
East London.
