Profile
Prison is a huge shock to Barbara; she lived a very active life before, so its restrictions are hard to take. As someone who is used to her views being respected, she also finds it hard to come to terms with the fact that as a prisoner, nobody cares about her opinions, let alone listens to them. Barbara’s middle-class sensibilities are initially offended by the type of person she encounters on G-Wing, but once clear of her prejudices, she finds it easy to make friends. Barbara is a devout Christian and a regular fixture in the chapel, but that doesn’t mean she’s beyond stealing the screw’s whisky and fiddling the canteen accounts!
