Principal Officer and then eventually Wing Governor.
Background
Divorced from wife, Marilyn, after eight years of marriage. They have two children, Tom and Becky. A disastrous second marriage to Di Barker.
Profile
To those inmates who don’t know what he’s capable of, Mr Fenner is alright. He’s easy-going and has a studied air of caring. They believe he doesn’t talk down to them, and take his fake concern at face value. Jim’s a popular man with the majority of his fellow officers too. He has the wisdom of years of walking the landings, and there’s a self-deprecating front to him. He likes to say he doesn’t have all the answers, although he actually believes he does. The smarter inmates and POs can see right through Jim to the misogynist bastard who lives beneath the surface. In truth, Jim doesn’t see anything wrong in having sexual relationships with the women in his care—he’s got what they need and he’s happy to give it to them. So what’s the harm? Those who try to bring an end to Jim’s nefarious activities soon find out that he makes the worst sort of enemy. He’ll stop at nothing, even murder, to get himself out of a tight spot.
Last Seen
Lying dead on the floor of the hanging cell after being stabbed in the neck by an icicle (s7ep10). He later returned to G-Wing as a ghostly presence hallucinated by Julie J (s7ep13).
