The riot is now in full swing. The inmates are throwing flaming swingers out of their cell windows and covering the landings in toilet paper. During the chaos, Maxi takes the opportunity to do a bit of snooping in the PO’s office and steals a number of inmates’ files. Meanwhile, Caroline makes it obvious that she’s attracted to Nikki but is disappointed when she learns that she has someone waiting for her on the outside.
Helen announces that she has arranged for Femi to be moved to E-Wing and celled up with another Nigerian prisoner. Now that her demands have been met, Nikki tries to put an end to the protest, but the PBG have other ideas. She and Yvonne eventually resort to locking Maxi, Al, and Tina in their cell. Now that the main protagonists are safely under lock and key, Helen and the POs are able to retake control of the wing. Helen runs into Nikki when she is helping to lock the G3 inmates back into their cells. Nikki apologises but Helen doesn’t want to listen—Nikki has betrayed her and, as a result, their relationship is over for good. As a stunned and heartbroken Nikki returns to her cell, the PBG start flushing the stolen inmate files down the toilet. But then Maxi sees something interesting in one of the files and decides to keep it.
Nikki and Caroline continue to get close, something that seems to interest Maxi for reasons she refuses to divulge to Tina and Al. Helen also notices this blossoming relationship and seems more than a little upset when she notices them heading off for a rendezvous in the potting-shed. Later, Helen walks in on the two women kissing in the library and warns Nikki that it’s the sort of behaviour that could jeopardise her appeal. Nikki is convinced that Helen is jealous and refuses to listen.
Yvonne arranges a leaving party for the Julies complete with a cake and a bottle of whisky stolen from Fenner’s desk. Julie J is excited about the prospect of setting up home with Julie S and David. Julie S seems more subdued, battling with her guilt after agreeing to give things another go with Trevor. Julie J is distraught when Julie S finally fills her in on her plans, convinced that she is set to be abandoned again. By the next morning, the Julies are no longer speaking.
There’s an overcrowding problem on G-Wing so Helen devises a list of inmates to be transferred to other wings. Nikki is furious when she learns that Caroline is on the list, but for Maxi, this is the chance she has been waiting for. She publicly announces that Caroline is a nonce and shows Nikki proof that she was convicted along with her boyfriend of taking pornographic photos of children and selling them on the Internet. As she watches Caroline being locked into a cell for her own safety, Nikki realises that Helen had been trying to protect her all along.
Still bickering, the Julies walk through the gates of the prison and straight into the arms of the police. They are arrested for a number of thefts that occurred several years before and then bundled into the back of a car.
Josh – “What are you playing at man? We was all tooled up to kick the shit outta you!”
Crystal – “If you’da laid one finger on me boy you’da known about it.”
