Episode 6.10

It’s the first day of the tribunal and Neil faces the music as Fenner provides damning evidence of his sexual misconduct, blaming him directly for the mental breakdown he suffered. Di’s evidence is also damaging to Neil’s case, especially when she informs the panel that Neil promoted her to Wing Governor in exchange for the baby she was carrying. Hollamby hammers what appear to be the final nails in Neil’s coffin when she accuses him of driving her late husband to suicide by refusing to give him a job.
Selena prepares to leave Larkhall in order to attend the Intensive Development Course. Kris is devastated when Selena refuses to acknowledge her apologies and threatens to drop her appeal – she would rather stay locked up inside than be alone on the outside. Later, Kris encounters Natalie in the laundry room and, in no mood to listen to her pleas of remorse, tells her to get lost. Natalie tries to force Kris into a kiss but is violently thrown across the room when she refuses to take no for an answer.
Although the future looks bleak, Neil remains calm and concentrates on trying to persuade Karen to help him in his battle with Fenner. Broke, unemployed, and facing a very long prison sentence, Karen has hit rock bottom. She is convinced that Fenner set her up and even suspects him of having some involvement in Yvonne’s death. Neil promises to do all that he can to prove Karen’s innocence if she will help him to nail Fenner.
Natalie is rushed down to the hospital wing where she uses her wiles to convince Dr Nicholson that her injuries are a lot worse than they appear. One thing she doesn’t count on is the fact that Frances continually refuses to believe a word she says. Frances confronts Dr Nicholson who is forced to admit that he’s been overstating the seriousness of Natalie’s injuries. Natalie is outraged when she is dragged out of her comfortable hospital bed and sent down the block. In revenge, she blurts out the truth about Kris and Selena’s relationship to anyone who will listen.
Neil meets with Rob Skelton, a private investigator who has been recommended by Frances. As an ex-police detective, Rob has plenty of contacts and has utilised them to gain access to Karen’s car. Rob has discovered that the driver’s seat was pushed right back, possibly to allow someone who was considerably taller than Karen to drive it. He is reasonably optimistic about his chances of proving her innocence.
The G-Wing rumour mill spins into action with the news that Kris and Selena are having an affair. Neil believes that Frances is still using her personal dislike of Natalie to cloud her professional judgement and orders her to place both Kris and Natalie on cellular confinement until further notice. Predictably, Fenner has chosen to believe Natalie’s version of events and goes to the local records office in order to consult the electoral register. Just as Natalie predicted, Kris and Selena are listed as living at the same address. Fenner steals the relevant page and then faxes it to Frances’s office.
