Milly is a girl on the edge. Selena is pressurising her to come forward and confess to the killing of her father and although she knows that it’s the right thing to do, it doesn’t stop her being scared. Back at Larkhall, the fax that proves that Selena and Kris have been co-habiting, arrives in Frances’ in-box and she wastes no time in calling Selena to her office. Although Selena admits that she and Kris are close friends, Frances is unwilling to lose such a good PO and gives her the benefit of the doubt. However, to deflect suspicion, Kris will have to be shipped out to another prison.

Hollamby is becoming anxious about finding someone to accompany her to Di and Fenner’s wedding. There is really only one man on her list – Dr Nicholson – but so far he is proving immune to her rather obvious attempts at flirting. At least Tina’s love life seems to be flourishing. She’s succeeding in her attempts to get closer to maintenance man, Ben, and, after ignoring Julie S’s warnings about him only being out for what he can get, she throws herself at him in the laundry room.

Phyl and Bev are still recovering on the hospital wing from their bout of self-induced oxalic poisoning. Frances goes to visit them and asks for information regarding Natalie’s involvement in Al’s death. Both insist they will stay tight-lipped unless Frances can guarantee them special privileges and protection. Refusing to be manipulated, Frances orders them both back onto the wing. Realising that they need to get to Natalie before she gets to them, they start thinking of a way to pin Al’s death on her without incriminating themselves.

Although PI Rob Skelton is sure that there’s more to Karen’s case than meets the eye, he can’t argue with several eyewitnesses, all of who have identified her as the driver involved in the hit-and-run incident. There’s also the fact that the CCTV footage clearly shows a blonde woman behind the wheel. Depressed when Rob admits defeat, Karen hits the bottle.

Kris is inconsolable when she is told that Milly’s dead body has been found in the canal and blames Selena for putting too much pressure on her. On top of this, the news that she’s being transferred is nothing. Or is she just putting on an act? All becomes clear when she contacts one of her old workmates and asks him to intercept the prison van she will be transferred out of Larkhall in. Sure enough, the van in is forced to swerve to avoid a truck. After it crashes, Kris climbs through the smashed rear window and makes her escape in the back of a waiting taxi.

Karen wakes with a hangover after a night of drinking whisky and watching CCTV tapes. She inserts another tape into her VCR and leaves it to play while she takes a shower. When she returns, she sees a man running away from her abandoned car. For a brief moment, his face is illuminated by a nearby streetlight. For Karen, there is only one man it can be… Fenner.
