Frances is determined to crack down on G-Wing’s dealers and orders every inmate to be urine tested. She also places Phyl on 24-hour surveillance. Phyl is a pretty cool customer, but being handcuffed to Hollamby might be more than she can stand. Later, Phyl goes to use one of her phonecards and is gob-smacked when she discovers that Larkhall has gone over to the new PIN system. If anything, this hardens her resolve. She’s determined not to crack, even when Bev is moved out of their cell and into the four-bed dorm.
Fenner finds a piece of rotting, maggot infested meat in his locker; evidently, the women are still convinced that he’s responsible for Yvonne’s death. That night, he and Di go to a video shop and he sees Julie S lurking between the shelves with a knife. Di is understandably concerned by his strange behaviour, but her thoughts turn to mush when Fenner proposes marriage out of the blue and then begs her not to leave him. She accepts immediately, blissfully unaware of the fact that Fenner is only acting out of his fear of being alone.
Selena is still determined to get Kris out of prison and works on her plan to get Milly to confess. But things don’t go according to plan when Selena goes to meet Milly at the airport only for her not to show. Despondent, Selena returns to Larkhall and begs Kris to get in contact with her mother – maybe she could be persuaded to testify about her husband’s violent behaviour? Although she knows Selena is deluding herself, Kris reluctantly agrees.
Darlene learns that inmates of the Mormon faith are allowed a daily cocoa ration instead of tea and so makes a formal request to change her religion. However, after an informative chat with Julie J about Darlene’s true motivations, Colin turns the request down. Darlene responds by accusing Colin of racially abusing her. Frances investigates Darlene’s claims and finds out that she was lying. She clears Colin of any wrongdoing and later, invites him back to her office for a drink and seduces him. Later, she makes a point of telling Colin not to get any ideas; it didn’t mean anything.
Julie J tries to talk Julie S out of her threats to get even with Fenner. Julie S is adamant that Fenner will pay. She’s living with a life sentence already, what has she got to lose? At home, Fenner wakes up after a bad dream that turns into a waking nightmare when he relives the moment Shell stabbed him. He turns to Di and shouts for her help, but when he throws back the covers, he sees Yvonne’s rotting corpse lying in her place.
Phyl finally admits defeat and offers to confess all to Frances on condition that she and Bev are moved back in together and given red-bands. In the PO’s Office, Di and Fenner announce their engagement. But Fenner’s preoccupied, and the nightmares that have plagued him soon turn into a terrifying reality when Julie S attacks him with a knife. Although he’s gotten away with nothing more than a cut hand, the attack is the final straw. The inmates can’t believe their eyes when he walks onto to the wing, completely naked. He holds up his bloody hand as he proclaims his innocence. Now everyone can see that he has absolutely nothing to hide!
