Yard Girl
Name given to the inmates who collect the shit parcels that are thrown out of cell windows during the night. Shaz was a yard girl, but she was bullied in to giving up the job to Al and Maxi (s3ep13). See Shit Parcels.
Yates, Kris
Hard nut sentenced to life for the murder of her father, a crime she confessed to in order to keep her younger sister Milly (the real killer) out of jail. Kris received a huge shock when she arrived on G-Wing to find her girlfriend Selena working there as a PO (s5ep14). The truth about who really killed Kris’s father became a major bone of contention between the two of them, especially when Selena began applying pressure on Milly to confess – something which may have led to her suicide (s6ep11). When her relationship with Selena was forced out into the open, Kris was immediately transferred to another prison, but managed to escape en route. She was last seen protesting her innocence on the top of the Wellington Arch (s6ep12).

Yates, Milly
Kris’s younger sister. She committed the crime that Kris confessed to and was later sent down for. Unable to cope with the pressure put on her to come clean, she tragically committed suicide (s6ep11).
Yates, Sue
Kris and Milly’s mum. She suffered years of physical abuse at the hands of her husband, but later disowned Kris when she confessed to his murder. She refused to believe Milly’s claims that she was the real killer.

“You’re all sacked!”
Frances’s now legendary words of greeting to the POs of G-Wing. Frances had previously been working undercover on G-Wing as inmate Frances Allen as part of a sting operation designed to trap Natalie and was appalled by the ineptitude and unprofessional behaviour of the screws. Frances was later forced to retract her words when Neil pointed out that running a wing without POs would be an impossible job (s6ep1).
