HOW IS YOUR CHARACTER DEVELOPING THIS SERIES?

We get done again… we’re about to get released and we’re arrested again for GBH.  So we’re back in.

WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING IN BAD GIRLS?

The laughs on set, the fun we have, and the way everyone supports each other, cast and crew.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?

She’s honest.  Her honesty shines through no matter what situation she’s in.  She always has a cunning plan up her sleeve.  She might not have thought it through, but her heart’s in the right place and she’s always completely honest with her friends, and her enemies.

WHAT DO YOU DISLIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?

I don’t think there is anything.  I love her, or I don’t think I’d play her.  If I met her, I’d instantly warm to her, I think.  I think she would frustrate me with that inability to realise that there are two paths to take in life and she always chooses the wrong one, but as a person, she’d make me laugh, and you couldn’t get a more genuine person, I think.  She’d do anything for you.

DO YOU LIKE THE COSTUMES THAT YOUR CHARACTER WEARS?

I love them because they’re great to hide behind.  They’re so obviously not me, from the high shoes to the tacky gold jewellery to the short skirts to the little tops.  They’re brilliant, because as soon as I put them on, I am Julie S.

HOW DO PEOPLE RE-ACT TO YOU ON THE STREET?

Yeah, they follow me down the street going ‘Hello Julie… are you and Kika sisters?  Where do you get your hair-clips from?’ and they send me drawings of Julie.  And kids follow me down the street singing ‘Julie, Julie, Julie…’  So it’s all nice things.  Nice letters and things.  A lot of people say ‘Why didn’t you leave Julie J behind and go off with Trevor?’ but it’s still nice.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR CHARACTER?  ANY TRAITS THAT YOU SHARE?

I think the ability to try and turn a bad situation into a good one, and trying to keep positive, I’d say we overlap there.  Apart from that, no.  We’re the same height.

WHAT SCENE HAVE YOU MOST ENJOYED OR HATED FILMING SO FAR?

The scene I hated was the very first scene we ever did, from series one, where Kika and I came out like a couple of silver Chinese strange-looking people, and did our dance routine for the fashion show.  That was really frightening!  I hated that scene.  I enjoy all the scenes with just Kika and I where they get quite emotional, and I very much liked doing the stuff last series with ‘my Trevor’.  Getting out was nice!  I hate the servery scenes.  It always smells of baked beans!

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE NEW EXTERIOR?

It’s great.  I think some of the viewers will notice, because there’s always a few anoraks who’ll write in and say ‘The dimensions of the exercise yard are not precisely what they were during the previous series…’  But I think Jane’s done a wonderful job.  Absolutely superb, absolutely brilliant.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREETIME?

I horse-ride, I go to the gym a lot.  I have fun!  I’ve got a normal scooter that Linda (Henry) bought me for my birthday that’s a push-along, and a motorised one as well.  Any gadgets, I’m there.  From remote control fart machines to my spy-glasses to my bubble machine… anything that keeps me amused.  I bought a great mirror last week that when you look in it, says ‘You’re gorgeous, baby!’

HOW WOULD YOU GET ON WITH YOUR CHARACTER IF YOU MET THEM IN REAL LIFE?

I think I would be frustrated by her, but we’d have a right laugh.  I think she’d be a bit harder than me, because of the knocks she’s had in life, but generally not bad at all.  We’d have a good couple of vodkas together and have fun.
