PLEASE TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER.
Frances is strong minded, confident and very feisty. When she sees what she wants she certainly gets it! Viewers will find her character shocks them in more ways than one! There is a twist at the end of the first episode which we are very keen to keep from the viewers so it doesn’t ruin the surprise.
DO YOU SYMPATHISE WITH YOUR CHARACTER?
I think she’s great. She’s very straight forward, competent and fair.
ARE THERE ANY SIMILARITIES BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR CHARACTER?
Honesty, bloody mindedness and determination.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE AND DISLIKE ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER IF YOU WERE INTRODUCED IN REAL LIFE?
I like the fact that she’s a ball-breaking extremist. But I wouldn’t like it if she tried to ball-break me!
IF YOU COULD CHANGE A KEY FACT ABOUT THE CHARACTER YOU PLAY WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
I would make her a fanatical mud wrestler!
DO YOU THINK YOUR CHARACTER HAS CHANGED SINCE BEING INVOLVED WITH G WING?
Frances is managing to be less fanatical and power crazy and more accepting of people’s limitations.
WHAT IS YOUR OPINION OF THE CURRENT PRISON SYSTEM AND HAS HAVING THIS ROLE IN BAD GIRLS CHANGED IT?
I feel prisoners should carry out their full term with no time out for good behaviour. However, there should be more opportunity to appeal.
WHAT’S THE WORST THING YOU’VE EVER BEEN CAUGHT FOR?
Beating up a boy at school for bullying my brother.
WHAT’S THE WORST THING YOU DID BUT DIDN’T GET CAUGHT?
Many things – but I always got caught!
IF YOU COULD INFLUENCE/INSTIGATE OTHER METHODS OF CORRECTING, PUNISHING OR PREVENTING CRIME - WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
I don’t believe in the death sentence. I do believe in a government who truly involves peoples’ choices and voices and I believe this will aid peace within the community.
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE LAW?
Never you mind!
IS ANYTHING YOU FEEL STRONGLY ENOUGH ABOUT THAT YOU WOULD PROTEST ABOUT UNTIL THE POINT OF ARREST?
Equality.
DO YOU THINK THERE ARE ANY CRIMES IN THE UK THAT ARE PUNISHED TOO SEVERELY OR ARE WE TOO LENIANT ON OUR CRIMINALS?
Reckless driving is too leniently dealt with. Child abuse also deserves far more severe and intense scrutiny.
WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING INVOLVED WITH BAD GIRLS?
Food – NOT

HAVE YOU FILMED ANY MEMORABLE SCENES YET?
We were filming in the exercise yard and one scene called for a stone to be thrown at the back of my head. It took about 50 takes, all of which involved an actual stone being thrown at my head! I walked away with a pounding headache!
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?
I have two production companies and a child. All of which take up most of my time.
DO YOU ENJOY LUXURY HEALTH AND BEAUTY TREATMENTS?
Yes! I love all the pampering, bring it on!!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE WAY OF PAMPERING YOURSELF?
To sleep past 6.30am and then enjoy a lovely bacon butty. Mmmmmmmmm.

I would learn to play an instrument.

Always – I strive to be on the outside of any system and achieve more.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE?
Shawshank Redemption, of course. But Porridge was bloody funny!
PRIOR TO BAD GIRLS WHAT ROLE ARE YOU MOST WELL KNOWN FOR?
I don’t know. I was well known for my role in Coronation Street and also Peak Practice but my favourite probably differs to the public’s.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST PROFESSIONAL ACTING ROLE?
A very scary ghost in Dundee.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST EVER JOB?
A waitress. I was sacked on the first day for being too intimidating.
DO YOU HAVE A GOOD STORY ABOUT A PREVIOUS ROLE/JOB?
In the last series of Peak Practice, I was playing a nurse who was turning into more and more of a lunatic. I seriously thought by the end of filming that I’d need therapy! I became a complete nutter!
