HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR CHARACTER DEVELOPING THIS SERIES?
She’s still a bit man-mad, still looking for love in any corner that she can find it. In the early part of the series, she thinks she’s found The One, but that doesn’t quite spin out as expected. So yeah, she’s still on that love-curve!

WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING IN BAD GIRLS?
I would say the company really. We all get on really well and we have great fun on set and off.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?
That she’s slightly mad. I like that she’s off the wall a bit, really. There’s a lot in her, I think, a lot of history and background. When that comes into play it’s really quite effective. She’s not just a standard mad person. It’s not a case of sticking someone in a programme to be ‘the mad person’. Neither is she is completely psychotic. She’s very human, but… well, she’s unique, isn’t she?

WHAT DO YOU DISLIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?
The fact that I have to shag loads of blokes… it’s a hard life! There are times when I think ‘Oh, no, please don’t make me wear that dress when I go out’ or ‘Please don’t make me belly-dance’ and that sort of thing. The idea that I constantly have to get into compromising situations with almost all of the male cast! I haven’t had Jim Fenner yet, but there’s time….

DO YOU LIKE THE COSTUMES THAT YOUR CHARACTER WEARS? WOULD YOU WEAR THEM OUT?
In a word, no. She does dress terribly inappropriately, and she’s on the pull pretty much 24 hours a day. She’s not subtle about it at all. I might wear a short skirt occasionally but I don’t show off as much flesh as Di Barker does when I dress up.

HOW DO PEOPLE RE-ACT TO YOU ON THE STREET?
I got a lot of stick when I beat my mum up. There were a lot of people shouting out ‘Oi! You beat your mum up’ and then laughing, and people surrounding me who obviously don’t watch the programme giving me funny looks and thinking ‘What?’ When Vicky Alcock and I were at the airport on our way to America, waiting to change planes, this whole family came down the corridor, and in amongst all of these Americans who have never seen the series, shouted out ‘You beat your mother up last night! Now can we take your picture?’ These Americans were all thinking ‘What? What’s going on?’ That was very strange indeed.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR CHARACTER? ANY TRAITS THAT YOU SHARE?
I don’t think I’m like my character. I think I’m a lot happier in myself than Di Barker, quite frankly!

WHAT SCENE HAVE YOU MOST ENJOYED OR HATED FILMING SO FAR?
I really did enjoy working with Marlene Sidaway who played my mum, and I thought that was a great storyline. And I do think the storyline I’ve got coming up with Andrew Lancel is a really strong one. They are hard to do, because they’re so heightened emotionally, but also because of that, they’re great fun. But is quite hard to constantly play the victim.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE NEW EXTERIOR?
I think it looks very different. I’ve actually seen a couple of shots, unedited, of the new exterior, and it looks great. It will be interesting to see how it weathers, and it’s kind of odd not going to Oxford, because it was an opportunity for us all to go out and play.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREETIME?
I go riding. We’re all kind of riding freaks at the moment. I’m still having lessons and doing that, and me and Vicky, when we were on holiday in America went to a ranch near Salt Lake City, and went riding there which was great. I go out with friends, I enjoy the theatre, I try to scribble a bit. I’ve got a writing partner that I work with, so we’re struggling with that.

HOW WOULD YOU GET ON WITH YOUR CHARACTER IF YOU MET THEM IN REAL LIFE?
I’d think she was nuts. I’d try to steer clear of her really. I’d look into those eyes and think ‘I must avoid this woman at all costs’.
