K

Kabaret Kum Bij Go-Go
The name of the Amsterdam strip-club in which Shell worked under the name, ‘Naughty Nikki’. Even heavy pregnancy didn’t stop Shell strutting her stuff for her pervy punters. When Fenner, Colin, and Ken came across her (s5ep1), she was concealing her bump underneath a huge phallus and brandishing a whip as she sang the following song:

In Kabaret Kum Bij Go-Go
Vere all your vishes vill come true
In Kabaret Kum Bij Go-Go
Ve vill be vaiting here for you
Ven you’ve been a naughty boy
I take you on my knee for spanking
It vill be a joy
I do not need to ask for zanking
In Kabaret Kum Bij Go-Go
You can come and go-go viz me

And ven I crack my vip
I vant a big fat tip
Or else I split your lip
And you’ll be very sorry
In Kabaret Kum Bij Go-Go

In Kabaret Kum Bij Go-Go

In Kabaret Kum Bij Go-Go
I zink you soon be feeling fine
If you do just vot I say

In Kabaret Kum Bij Go-Go

Come and have a go-go
You can come and go-go viz me!

Karaoke
Shaz was incredibly excited when she found out that karaoke was provided as an activity for Larkhall’s inmates (s2ep9). However, her excitement soon turned to disappointment—“I just wanna know, when’s the karaoke? ‘Cause so far like, nada.” We know how she feels, the closest we’ve come to seeing Shell “singing her tits off” was when she and the other girls were once shown congregating on the landing and waiting impatiently for the entertainment to begin (s1ep2).

Kerridge, Lucy
Lucy KerridgeLegal-aid solicitor who was assigned to defend Al after she was charged with Virginia’s murder. On the face of it, things looked very bleak for Al, but after hearing about the physical abuse her client had suffered during her childhood, Lucy became convinced she could build a credible defence (s5ep13). However, Al chickened out at the last minute and pleaded guilty (s5ep15).

Kerrigan, Pat
Pat KerriganPat is very much in the mould of Nikki and Yvonne, a tough, outspoken inmate with absolutely no respect for the prison authorities and a tendency to help those in trouble. She was transferred to Larkhall at her own request after discovering that Sister Thomas More, the nun who had abused her throughout her childhood, was an inmate on G-Wing. After forcing Sister Thomas to confess to her crimes at knifepoint (s7ep6), Pat entered into an epic struggle with Natalie for control of the wing that eventually culminated in Natalie’s death (s8ep6). During her time on Larkhall, Pat let down her barriers for long enough to fall in love with a fellow inmate, Sheena. However, their relationship didn’t survive for long after Sheena’s release.

Kevin the Teenager
Kevin the TeenagerThe original Kevin, a creation of British comedian Harry Enfield, was a sulky adolescent who was incredibly rude to his despairing parents, frequently shouting “I hate you, I wish I’d never been born!” at them, and insisting that everything is “so unfair” before storming off to his bedroom. The term “Kevin the Teenager” has entered British vernacular to describe any adolescent who is bad-tempered or rebellious, and by Bad Girls fans to describe Nikki.

Keys
Most notably those belonging to Hollamby. So far they’ve been stolen twice, once by Shaz and Denny (s2ep11), and later by the Julies to help Yvonne in one of her escape attempts (s4ep1). Fenner once made copies of his keys and passed them on to Shell, hoping she would make good her escape and get out of his hair once and for all (s3pe7). Yvonne managed to talk Colin into giving her his keys shortly before embarking on her ‘final’ escape attempt (s5ep16). After he imprisoned Yvonne in the hanging cell, Fenner returned the keys to Colin, saying he found them lying in the corridor.

Selena got a set of keys made for Kris to use during her attempt to follow Yvonne through the hanging cell. Kris found Yvonne’s body and was so shocked by the gruesome sight she dropped the keys down a drain (s6ep1). Before they discovered this set of keys, the police had been treating Yvonne’s death as suspicious and considered Fenner to be their prime suspect (s6ep2). After the discovery of the keys, they decided Yvonne had dropped them down the drain herself before locking the door, unaware the tunnel ahead was blocked. Many fans have pointed out that had the police fingerprinted the keys, they would have noted the absence of Yvonne’s fingerprints… but this is Bad Girls, not CSI!

Kevin was wise to take extra precautions when escorting Natalie on an outside visit. Although he uncuffed her only once, to allow her to visit the bathroom, it was enough time for her to retrieve a can of mace that had been planted there for her. She sprayed Kevin in the face, cuffed him to a piece of furniture, and then made good her escape. Savvy Colin proved to be more than a match for her—he had a spare handcuff key taped to his leg (s7ep12).

Khan Din, Naj
Naj Khan Din Yet another one of the male escorts Yvonne managed to smuggle into the prison, this time posing as a visiting local businessman to Larkhall’s Open Day (s4ep16).

Khan, Dr

Dr KhanNeil and Di’s doctor. He confirmed Di’s pregnancy (s5ep8) and then broke the bad news that she had tested positive for syphilis (s5ep10).

Kickin’ Productions
The TV production company who chose to film their fly-on-the-wall documentary, Lady Lags, at Larkhall (s3ep7).

Kids on Wheels
A charity that provides disabled children with wheelchairs. The motorised wheelchair the inmates built for Buki’s son, Lennox, was presented to Kids on Wheels’ celebrity patron, Christopher Biggins (s5ep7).

Kimber, Beverley Janine
Donny and Janine’s baby daughter. She was named after Bev who stood in as midwife when Janine went into a shock early labour and gave birth on the floor of the dorm (s8ep11).

Kimber, Donny
Donny KimberDonny was transferred from Larkhall’s D-Wing (s8ep1). Wide-eyed and eager to please, Donny was readily recruited by the police to become their Liaison Officer at Larkhall, and played a big part in persuading Emira Al Jahani to reveal the location of her husband, suspected terrorist Hassan Al Jahani (s8ep3). Donny is a genuine guy, well liked by both staff and inmates… especially Janine. She and Donny were unable to suppress their feelings for one another and fell in love. During an outside visit, Donny fathered a daughter, Beverley Janine, who was born on the floor of the four-bed dorm (s7ep13).

Kings Cross
An inner-city district in London. It was Shell and Denny’s first port of call after their escape from Larkhall (s3ep7). There they met up with Gary, a drug-dealing crony of Denny’s. Gary provided the fugitives with a place to stay for the night. They repaid his generosity by snorting all of his cocaine and stealing his money (s3ep8).

Kissing
Helen and Nikki, Helen and Thomas, Nikki and Caroline, Shaz and Denny, Cassie and Roisin, Yvonne and Colin, Barbara and Henry, Karen and Fenner, Kris and Selena, Frances and Colin, Kris and Natalie, Pat and Sheena, Natalie and Fenner, Hollamby and Dr Nicholson, Donny and Janine, Shell and practically everybody…

Kitchen Garden Basics
The gardening book Phyl and Bev turned to for a rhubarb wine recipe. The book also contained information about the toxicity of rhubarb leaves, but their plan to poison G-Wing’s screws with the noxious substance backfired, and they ended up poisoning the inmates instead (s6ep6). In a panicked attempt to destroy the evidence, Phyl and Bev stuffed the pages of the book down the toilet, but the toilet blocked and then erupted just as Frances arrived to question them (s6ep8).

Kitt, Nurse
Nurse Kitt Nurse who worked on Larkhall’s MBU when Crystal was staying there with baby Zandra (s4ep9 – 10).

Knights, Paul

Paul Knights
Natalie’s boyfriend and business partner. He was arrested in a Larkhall visiting room when an on-the-spot police search produced two bags of cocaine. Because of this, Natalie was forced to turn to Frances for help, giving her the evidence she needed to prove that Natalie and her cronies were smuggling children into the country for use in the sex-trade (s6ep1).

Knives
The only metal knives on G-Wing are kept in a locked cupboard behind the servery, but on occasion, they have ‘escaped’. Julie J stole a knife from the cupboard and planned to slash her wrists when Julie S was released on electronic tag (s3ep3). Al, Tina, and Maxi tooled themselves up with knives from the cupboard during the G-Wing riot and planned to use them on the screws until Caroline Lewis stepped in and showed them the error of their ways (s3ep11).

Pat smashed the glass door of the knife cupboard and then used the largest and sharpest of the bunch to take Sister Thomas More hostage (s7ep6). Convinced that he was responsible for Yvonne’s death, Julie S grabbed a knife and threatened Fenner with it. She meant to stab him but chickened out and ended up slashing his hand (s6ep3).

During a gust of rather heavy wind that blew open the exterior door, the knife cupboard fell of the wall and smashed open (s7ep13). Julie J pinched a knife to defend herself against Fenner’s ghost. But he turned the knife on her and she ended up stabbing herself in the stomach. Natalie also leapt on the opportunity to grab a knife. She passed it on to Miranda ‘Daughter of Satan’ Miles. Miranda used the knife to sharpen the end of a wooden crucifix and then stabbed Christie Mackay to death with it.

Konchalovsky, Sergei
Sergei KonchalovskyRussian Mafiosi who stole a bag of diamonds from his ‘colleagues’ and then stashed them in his luxury suite at the Hotel Americanas. While Sergei was being tortured into revealing the location of the diamonds, escapees Phyl and Bev stumbled across the diamonds and stole them for themselves (s7ep9).

‘Kumbayah’
Crystal’s favourite hymn and the one piece of music that is guaranteed to drive Hollamby around the twist. Zandra’s final request was for the hymn to be sung at her memorial service—“not because I like it, but I remember how it used to drive old Bodybag mad when you sang it all the time” (s2ep9).
